Therapies

What is Studio Vi's Therapeutic Massage?

Our most popular massage! This massage is akin to medical massage but does not require a physician referral or specific known diagnosis. The session utilizes the client's desired level of pressure. The therapist may draw on aspects of Swedish, deep tissue, Thai, Sports, trigger point, and other modalities in attempt to achieve the client’s desired therapeutic goal. The intention of this massage is to locate and focus on problem areas thought to be contributing to problems such as TMJ, chronic pain not responding to traditional treatments, chronic back/neck pain, radiating pain, migraines, repetitive use injuries, drop foot, or frozen shoulder. There is no set style or routine, this massage is completely customized according to the chief complaint with any remaining time spent on the rest of the body. How does a Therapeutic Massage Work?

Although many find this massage to be exceptionally relaxing, it is not designed to be a classical ‘relaxing’ massage and it may be painful at times. It is important to communicate with the therapist to keep the pain level in an acceptable range (perhaps no more than a 5 or 6 on a 0-10 pain scale). The overall pain level needs to remain as low as possible to avoid causing or extending an injury. Additionally, keeping the pain level low will likely help prevent the body from subconsciously initiating muscle guarding, which can reduce the success of the massage session.

Includes approximately 10 Minutes of Dynamic Cupping with a further approximately 10 minutes of Hot Stone for chief area(s) of concern to really help the areas relax and promote healing. This massage include the use of a percussive massager (massage gun) if the therapist and client choose to incorporate it.
